Osowe Owelle Àhaba renews allegiance to Asagba of Asaba, HRM Prof Epiphany Azinge

Osowe Owelle Àhaba renews allegiance to Asagba of Asaba, HRM Prof Epiphany Azinge

In a ceremony filled with tradition, reverence, and loyalty, Chief Engr. C.C. Chukwura, popularly known as Osowe Owelle Àhaba, reaffirmed his allegiance to the Asagba of Asaba, His Royal Majesty Prof. Epiphany Azinge (SAN, OON, FNIALS, FICMIC, LLD, KSJI, KSG).

The solemn event, held in the presence of Osowe’s Okpalaukwu, kinsmen, and close associates, was administered by Akudo Ahaba. The Chief pledged unwavering loyalty and commitment to both the monarch and the land of Àhaba.

In a heartfelt address, Osowe Owelle expressed his joy and pride in the enthronement of HRM Azinge, describing the monarch as the choice of Asaba, Nigeria, and indeed the world.

“My heart is full of joy that he, whom Asaba, Nigeria, and the world wanted, is on the throne. Why should we not pay our allegiance with commitment, with dedication, with unalloyed loyalty?” he stated. “In your reign, AGU, justice and peace shall flourish to the end of time. My loyalty has been with you from the beginning, now and to the end.”

Chief Chukwura recalled the uncertainty that surrounded the selection of a new king following the passing of the revered Asagba Chike Edozien. He noted that many neighboring towns watched eagerly to see the outcome, and he praised the people of Asaba for not disappointing in their choice of HRM Azinge.

In response, the Asagba of Asaba warmly welcomed Osowe’s reaffirmation, acknowledging that the date had long been chosen by the Chief for this symbolic act of loyalty.

“I know this allegiance is from your heart,” HRM Azinge said. “At a time when many were unsure where the ship was sailing, you chested out and never looked back. Your allegiance today is mere formality because you were fully part of the journey to the throne. I have no reason to doubt you.”

The monarch further praised Chief Chukwura’s steadfast commitment to his administration, highlighting his involvement in nearly all committees established by the royal council. Of special note was Osowe’s exceptional leadership of the tourism and green energy committees, which have seen notable progress under his guidance.

“We have no doubts about your intellect,” the monarch said. “But not everyone with such, puts it to the service of their home. You have taken the tourism committee to another level with the progress made so far, and we appreciate your efforts.”

As part of the ceremony, the Asagba addressed the Olinzeles, urging them to ensure their wives—referred to as Odoziakus—sit beside them during official functions rather than apart. He emphasized the importance of unity in households and called on the women to play active roles in championing the rights and progress of the community.

The day’s events underscored a renewed sense of unity, loyalty, and commitment to the growth of Asaba under the reign of HRM Prof. Epiphany Azinge.
