IPAC mourns Sylvester Ezeokenwa, APGA’s grassroots hero

IPAC congratulates Mahmood Yakubu on reappointment

ABUJA – The Inter Party Advisory Council (IPAC) has expressed deep sorrow over the passing of Chief Sylvester Ezeokenwa, the Ezeudo of Umuchu and father of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) National Chairman, Barr. Sly Ezeokenwa.

Chief Ezeokenwa, a devout Christian, community leader, and philanthropist, was a pioneering figure in Nigerian politics, having served as the first Chairman of APGA in Onitsha South Local Government Area, Anambra State, from 2003 to 2015.

In a statement signed by Dr. Yusuf Mamman Dantalle, IPAC National Chairman, the council described Chief Ezeokenwa’s death as a significant loss to the nation’s democratic journey.

The statement highlighted his invaluable contributions to the growth of APGA, which has remained in power in Anambra State since 2006.

“IPAC is saddened that he transited to glory at a time his wise counsel is needed as citizens strive to build a better democratic nation,” the statement read.

Dr. Dantalle noted that Chief Ezeokenwa’s legacy as a grassroots politician and community leader would continue to inspire future generations.

“He was a man of integrity and a pioneer member of APGA who contributed immensely to the growth of the party in Anambra State,” the statement added.

IPAC also extended its condolences to Barr. Sly Ezeokenwa and his siblings, describing the late Chief Ezeokenwa as a patriotic soul.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with Barr. Sly Ezeokenwa, an esteemed political leader, and his siblings in this period of grief. May God Almighty console, comfort, and strengthen them over this irreparable loss,” the council said.

The council expressed solace in the fact that Chief Ezeokenwa lived a fulfilled life, leaving behind a legacy of service and dedication to his community and political party.

“We take solace in the fact that the late Pa Sylvester Ezeokenwa lived a fulfilled life and would be remembered as a man of integrity,” the statement added.

IPAC prayed for the repose of his soul, saying, “May his patriotic soul rest in the bosom of the Lord.”
