The Denam Charity Foundation, a philanthropic arm of Denam Group, has awarded academic scholarships to 30 students at the Government Day Secondary School, Dutse Alhaji, Abuja. The event, held at the school premises marked the foundation’s inaugural educational initiative aimed at empowering underserved youth in the community.
Dr. Linus Igwemezie, Chairman of Denam Charity Foundation, emphasized the transformative power of education during his address.
Drawing from his personal journey from humble beginnings to earning four university degrees and holding executive positions in global companies, he urged the students to view education as key and a vehicle for personal and societal advancement.
“Education is the most transformative force for personal growth and development,” Dr. Igwemezie stated. “It changed my life, and it can change yours too.”
The scholarships will cover the students’ school fees for the next two years, alleviating financial barriers to their education. About 50 students took part in the examination and 30 were selected for the scholarship. The remaining 20 were not left out, as they were also presented with consolation prizes each.
The foundation’s commitment to education is part of a broader strategy that includes healthcare outreach and youth empowerment programs.
Mr. Balogun Emmanuel, Principal of the school, expressed profound gratitude, highlighting the dire need for resources such as examination halls and photocopying machines.
He likened the foundation’s support to divine intervention, stating, “The eyes of God are with Denam Charity Foundation.”
The event also featured motivational speeches encouraging resilience, determination, and the pursuit of excellence.
Dr. Igwemezie’s message resonated with the students: “You have the vehicle that will take you to a brighter future. It’s up to you now to work hard to make sure that you achieve your dream.”
