Arthur Jarvis University (AJU) in Akpabuyo local government area of Cross River state has officially welcomed 220 new students during its 9th matriculation ceremony for the 2024/2025 academic year, which took place at the Postgraduate School Hall of the university.
The Acting Vice Chancellor, Dr. Joseph Edet, charged the fresh students to uphold discipline, integrity, and academic excellence while adhering strictly to the university’s rules and regulations.
In his address, Dr. Edet welcomed the students, affirming that they had met all admission requirements and were now full members of the institution.
He urged them to avoid misconduct, including exam malpractice, cultism, violence, drug abuse, and other vices, warning that offenders would face severe sanctions, including expulsion or legal action.
“You are now part of a dynamic family that will challenge you, nurture you, and prepare you for a successful future,” he declared.
Highlighting the university’s achievements, Edet noted that AJU has graduated over 900 students since receiving full accreditation from the National Universities Commission (NUC) in 2020.
He also announced newly approved programmes, including Data Science, Cyber Security, Software Engineering, and postgraduate degrees in Law, Nursing, and Accounting.
Dr. Edet encouraged the students to focus on their studies, emphasizing that AJU is committed to nurturing them for future success.
On her part ,the Acting Registrar, Lady Mary E. Dan-Abia, administered the Declaration of Loyalty to the students, officially confirming their admission.
Dignitaries present included representatives from the Nigeria Police Force, the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), the Department of State Services (DSS), and the military.
