The Federal University of Allied Health Sciences, Enugu (FUAHSE), has pledged to produce well-trained and qualified healthcare professionals to serve Nigeria and beyond.
Vice Chancellor Prof. John Emaimo made the commitment during the university’s inaugural matriculation ceremony, held at its Trans-Ekulu campus over the weekend.
Prof. Emaimo affirmed that the institution is fully aligned with President Bola Tinubu’s vision behind establishing FUAHSE—to expand the country’s healthcare workforce. He noted that the university is poised to contribute meaningfully to the president’s directive to train 120,000 frontline health workers within 16 months and to double Nigeria’s primary health facilities from 8,800 to over 17,000.
He revealed that the university promptly secured approval for 18 allied healthcare degree programmes from the National Universities Commission (NUC) and immediately commenced intensive academic training.
“The university has embarked on major infrastructure expansion, including a 1,000-seat auditorium. A new library and ICT block has been completed and occupied, while the administrative and classroom blocks are nearing completion,” Emaimo stated.
He stressed the university’s zero-tolerance policy toward indolence, cultism, and truancy, assuring a conducive learning environment for academic excellence and mentorship.
“We are committed to developing graduates who will integrate seamlessly into the healthcare system, become job creators, and contribute to national development,” he said.
FUAHSE, he added, will offer double certifications—bachelor’s degrees in allied health fields and professional diplomas in entrepreneurial ventures—ensuring students graduate with skills, integrity, and self-reliance.
