Visa, Access bank partner to turn smartphones into payment terminals

World leader in digital payments, Visa, in partnership with Access Bank, has said merchants can process payments using their mobile phones.

The firm said this would make transactions more convenient and efficient for both businesses and consumers.

According to Visa, Tap to Phone transforms Near Field Communication, NFC,-enabled Android smartphone into a payment terminal, enabling merchants to accept Visa payments by simply tapping a Visa card to their phone.

Commenting on the development, Vice President and Cluster Head of Visa West Africa, Andrew Uaboi, said: “This cutting-edge solution will not only provide merchants and consumers with a fast and convenient payment experience but also contribute to the financial inclusion and economic growth of the country. It is a step towards empowering small businesses and driving Nigeria towards a more digital and inclusive future.”
