Immediate past local government chairman of Abua Odual in Rivers State Hon Vincent Obu has commended the State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara for keeping the peace amidst what he described as the trial and tension in the state following the recent Supreme Court Judgement on the last local government election in the state and urged him to continue to focus on people who voted him to power.
He commended the governor in his speech while handing over properties of the council in his care to the Head of Local Government Administration, Dr Boma Allison. The handing over which was done in compliance with direction by the Governor in his recent live broadcast, took place at the Council Secretariat with senior council staff present.
“God has done well for us, but change is inevitable in life. I want to thank our Governor, His Excellency Siminalayi Fubara for keeping the peace in the midst of tribulations, trials, and temptations. He has remained dogged and resolute in keeping the peace thereby securing lives and property in the state. That is why all of us can sleep with our two eyes closed”
“Following the recent Supreme Court Judgement, and the consequent media broadcast by the governor, we are hereby strictly complying with the orders of the Governor to hand over all government property at our disposal to the Head of Local Government Administration.”
He thanked his supporters, and urged security chiefs in the local government to maintain the peace in the interim before fresh elections are conducted.
Responding, the Head of Local Government Administration in Abua Odual Local Government Dr Boma Allison, expressed appreciation for the opportunity to serve and assured the outgoing Chairman, that She and her team will build on the successes of his administration.
