SOKOTO – Senator Ibrahim Lamido, representing Sokoto East in the 10th National Assembly, has launched the distribution of 16 truckloads of 50kg bags of parboiled rice as part of his Ramadan Welfare Package. The initiative, which began on Monday, aims to support local communities across the eight local government areas in his senatorial district during the holy month of Ramadan.
The launch took place at his Lapai Road Guest House in Sokoto metropolis, marking the start of a simultaneous distribution across all eight LGAs to ensure beneficiaries can observe their fasts with ease.
Representing the senator at the event, Alhaji Suleiman, Sarkin Fulanin Goronyo, urged officials overseeing the distribution to carry out their duties with dedication, honesty, and transparency. He assured attendees that all beneficiaries would receive their allocated rice promptly, with local government representatives managing the process efficiently.
Senator Lamido reaffirmed his commitment to the welfare of Sokoto East residents, acknowledging the hardships caused by ongoing security challenges, including banditry and kidnappings. He pledged continued efforts to support and protect his constituents.
Each of the eight local government areas will receive two truckloads of rice, ensuring equitable distribution. This initiative aims to alleviate the economic strain on vulnerable families, particularly during Ramadan.
Given the socio-economic difficulties in Sokoto East, this intervention provides much-needed relief and symbolizes solidarity with struggling families. Senator Lamido’s dedication to his constituents extends beyond Ramadan, as he continues to advocate for security and social welfare programs to improve their lives.
This welfare package is part of his broader vision for long-term development in the region. By addressing immediate needs, he hopes to pave the way for a more stable and prosperous future for Sokoto East.
As Ramadan progresses, many residents will find solace in this timely support, reinforcing the senator’s role as a compassionate leader committed to their well-being.
