The Managing Director of Powell Homes and Shelters Ltd, Architect Chibuikem Onyekachi Emmanuel, has praised Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mbah’s decision to relocate the Coal Camp Spare Parts Market to a newly designed international market.
Speaking to the press on Monday in Enugu, Emmanuel described the move as a transformative step toward economic advancement in Enugu State, enhancing trade and fostering new investment opportunities.
He hailed the relocation project as a “bold and visionary step” that would reshape the state’s economic landscape.
“By moving the market to a modern facility that meets international standards, the government is not only improving infrastructure but also creating a more organized and efficient business environment for traders.”
Emmanuel commended Governor Mbah for prioritizing the safety and organization of traders’ workspaces, positioning Enugu as a competitive economic hub.
“For years, traders waited for relocation to a world-class facility. Governor Mbah has delivered within his first two years, demonstrating true commitment to progress.”
He emphasized the strategic location of the new market along the Enugu-Onitsha expressway, predicting it would become a major commercial hub attracting businesses from across Nigeria and beyond.
“This market is designed not just for Enugu traders but as a central hub that will attract businesses nationwide. It’s a game-changer that will boost trade, investment, industrialization, and urbanization.”
Architect Emmanuel also applauded Governor Mbah for incorporating residential areas within the market’s master plan, ensuring traders have easy access to their businesses.
“The integration of living spaces, schools, healthcare facilities, security posts, and recreational centers fosters a self-sufficient business community where traders can work and live in comfort.”
He revealed that Powell Homes and Shelters Ltd had acquired over a thousand plots of land near the market, made possible due to the governor’s visionary planning.
“Our estate near the market offers all the amenities of a modern residential community, ensuring traders have a convenient and well-planned place to live.”
Emmanuel acknowledged the significant improvements in infrastructure under Governor Mbah’s administration, including access roads, water supply, power, fire stations, and clinics.
“This initiative reflects a clear vision for sustainable development. It is not just about relocation; it’s about creating an enabling environment where businesses can thrive.”
He urged traders and stakeholders to embrace the relocation and support the government’s vision for making Enugu a model of modern commerce.
“With this infrastructure, the possibilities are limitless. This is an opportunity for traders to own their shops, build wealth, and contribute to the state’s economic growth. Governor Mbah has set a new standard, and we must all key into this vision.”
Powell Homes and Shelters Ltd reaffirmed its commitment to supporting infrastructural projects that drive economic growth and urban development. Emmanuel expressed optimism that the relocation of Coal Camp traders to the international market would usher in a new era of prosperity for Enugu’s commercial sector.
