Nigerian Optometric Association commends CEO Maxity Frames

The Nigerian Optometric Association (NOA), Edo State Chapter commended the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Maxity Frames, Mr Desmond Bassey for his commitment to the promotion of eye health and empowerment of the optometric community.

The commendation was in line with the commendation of the World Sight Day, World Glaucoma Week ( 2024 and 2025on March 17th, 2025.

According to the letter of commendation signed on behalf of NOA Chairman by Dr Ogbebor Uwamarin, Bassey was appreciated for his unwavering support in the lives of countless individuals.

The letter read: “On behalf of the Nigerian Optometric Association (NOA), Edo State Chapter, we would like to extend our heartfelt appreciation to you and the entire team at Maxity Frames for your unwavering support of our advocacy programs.

“Your generous contributions have consistently made a significant impact on events and global programs such as World Sight Day, World Optometry Day, and World Glaucoma Week. Your dedication to supporting our cause has played a vital role in helping us raise awareness and make a difference in the lives of countless individuals.

“We are truly grateful for your commitment to the promotion of eye health and the empowerment of the optometric community. Your continued support whenever we reach out speaks volumes about your generosity and passion for the cause.

“We look forward to continuing this partnership as we work towards a healthier, more informed community. Thank you once again for being an integral part of our advocacy efforts.”

However, in his response, Bassey said: “I feel truly honored and grateful to receive this recognition from the Nigerian Optometric Association, and the Women Optometrists in Nigeria, Edo State Chapter.

“This award is a testament to the collective effort we put into advancing eye care advocacy and ensuring that quality eye health services are accessible to more people. It is incredibly fulfilling to see that our contributions are making an impact, and this recognition only strengthens my commitment to the cause.

“The AutoVision Initiative in conjunction with SMOF is to roll-out free smart AI driving glasses and eye screenings for car buyers in Edo State. This is the current development we are working on and how the public will benefit from such lofty ideas.
“To everyone in the field of eye care and advocacy, I encourage you to remain dedicated to making a difference. The work we do goes beyond just vision, it’s about improving lives, fostering awareness, and creating sustainable solutions for better eye health.

“Collaboration is key, and when we come together with passion and purpose, we can drive meaningful change. Keep pushing forward, because every effort counts in shaping a healthier, and more informed society.”

Prior to this, Bassey was given an award of recognition for his outstanding support and dedication to the Women Optometrists in Nigeria, Edo State Chapter in advancing eye care advocacy programmes on March 8th, 2025 duly signed by Dr. Ogbebor Uwamarin, Chairperson, Women Optometrists in Nigeria, Edo State Chapter.
