BENIN CITY – IN recognition of his selfless service to the people, Edo State born fintech expert, Dr. Thomas Attah has been conferred with the title, Ekpen of Ekpoma Kingdom by the Onojie of Ekpoma, His Royal Highness, Abumere Anthony Ehizojie II.

The traditional ruler conferred the title meaning “The Leopard of Ekpoma” on Attah during the Ihuen festival held in Ekpoma, Esan West Local Government Area of Edo State, where he said the honour on Attah was as a result of his love for the people.

Also on hand to witness the ceremony was the traditional ruler of Idjerhe Kingdom in Delta State HRM Obukowho Monday Whiskey.

Speaking to journalists shortly after he was conferred with the title in company of family members, friends and well wishers, Attah promised to continue his service to humanity just as he appealed to people of means to do more in community service which he said is one way many people in need can be reached.

He said “This is a testament to the need of community development and I want to advocate and appeal to the people of my status and contemporaries that we should all dedicate ourselves to community service.

“Let us also try as we can to be of good tides to our fellow folks.

“My promise to the people of Esanland also Edo State in general is that I will continue to deliver and give more to the society. And also try to see how I can add value in anywhere I find myself”, he said.

On her part, his wife, Mrs Juliana Attah commended the traditional ruler for the honour and promised to continue to support her husband in community service.

One of Attah’s friend who is the Assistant Director, Information and Communication, Nigerian Institute of Science and Laboratory Technology (NISLT), Aideyanjie Christopher, said the conferment of chieftaincy title on Attah was a deserved honour describing Dr Attah as somebody with a heart of gold.

“This title is very deserving because of his contributions to humanity, not just above his people, not just among the Esan people, but throughput the nation.

“He is somebody of a very high personality, he is kind to a fault, he is very supportive and I think this title is long overdue,” he said
