Former Director-General of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum (NGF), Earl Osaro Onaiwu, has called on the 36 state governors, as well as public and private sector stakeholders, to support the National Commission for Refugees, Migrants, and Internally Displaced Persons (NCFRMI) in its efforts to assist vulnerable Nigerians.

In a statement issued on Thursday, Onaiwu emphasized the crucial role the commission plays in providing relief to displaced individuals and migrants, urging all stakeholders to strengthen government efforts in catering to those in dire need.

“The NCFRMI plays a vital role in providing succour to ordinary Nigerians whose humanity is being challenged. As a nation, it is our collective responsibility to ensure that these vulnerable individuals receive the support and care they deserve,” Onaiwu stated.

Commending the leadership of Honourable Aliyu Tijani, the Federal Commissioner of the NCFRMI, Onaiwu lauded his dedication and expertise in providing essential services to Nigerians facing displacement.

He specifically urged state governors to provide resources that would enable the commission to effectively execute its mandate, while also calling on private organizations to collaborate in areas such as food, shelter, healthcare, and education.

“Together, we can make a meaningful difference in the lives of our fellow Nigerians who are struggling to overcome adversity. Let us join hands to support the NCFRMI in its noble mission,” he concluded.

The NCFRMI is tasked with addressing the needs of refugees, migrants, and internally displaced persons in Nigeria, working towards sustainable solutions for their rehabilitation and reintegration.
