…Pledges commitment to devt of Lagos
A former stalwart of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Ikorodu area of Lagos State, Mr Abdulkareem Shittu, has justified his defection to the All Progressives Congress, APC, saying he was motivated by the desire to contribute to the progress and development of Ikorodu division and Lagos State at large.
Shittu, at the historic event, which took place at the APC LGA Party Secretariat at Oke Ota Ona, also expressed gratitude to the APC leadership and stakeholders in Ikorodu division for welcoming him into the party.
Shittu praised the APC’s commitment to good governance, transparency and accountability, claiming that they align with his values and vision for Ikorodu division.
He assured the gathering that he would be a loyal and dedicated party member and would work tirelessly to promote the APC’s ideals and objectives.
Meanwhile, the ceremony was a testament to the APC’s growing popularity in Ikorodu division, and was graced by the presence of former Deputy Governor, Prince Abiodun Ogunleye; APC Ikorodu division Chairman, Tijani Olasukanmi, among others.
The event was a colourful display of music, dance, and camaraderie, as party faithful and supporters of Shittu rejoiced at the new development.
In a symbolic gesture, Ogunleye presented the party flag to Shittu, signifying his formal admission into the APC.
Shittu’s supporters were fully on ground, demonstrating their solidarity and commitment to their leader’s new political journey.
Stakeholders in the division also told newsmen that the defection of Shittu to the APC was a significant development in Ikorodu politics, and it is expected to have far-reaching implications for the political landscape of the division.
As the APC continues to grow in strength and popularity, stakeholders argue that it is clear that Shittu has made a wise decision in joining the party.
They claim that with his wealth of experience and expertise, Shittu is set to be a valuable asset to the APC in the Ikorodu division.
