The Nigerian Senate has confirmed Capt. Chris Ona Najomo as the substantive Director General of the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA). The confirmation was made during the Senate’s plenary session on Thursday, February 6, after adopting the Senate Committee on Aviation’s report.
Prior to this, Najomo served as the Acting DG of the NCAA. In a statement on the NCAA’s X handle (formerly Twitter), the authority wished him a successful tenure and expressed confidence in his leadership.
Sen. Buhari Abdulfatai (APC-Oyo), who chairs the Senate Committee on Aviation, praised Najomo’s qualifications and extensive experience in the aviation sector, which he said made him an excellent choice. Sen. Mohammed Monguno (APC-Borno) also supported the nomination, highlighting Najomo’s commendable track record and lack of objections from security agencies.
The Senate unanimously confirmed his appointment.
