Akure— Operatives of Ondo State Police Command have arrested Two notorious armed robbery suspects who had been on the Police wanted list for specialising in robbing ladies.

The suspects, Amubieya Emmanuel age 26 and Ogunmola Akintola age 26, were apprehended by operatives of the Special Weapons and Tactics, SWAT, team in Ondo Town.

Sources said the suspects had been terrorising residents of Akure for months.
Confirming their arrest, the command spokesperson, Funmi Odunlami, said they were apprehended on 25th February 2025.

Odunlami, explained that preliminary investigations revealed that the suspects had been actively involved in series of robbery incidents in Akure since August 2024.

According to her “Their modus operandi is targeting ladies. They pick their victims at night (around 10:00 PM) using a Toyota Camry, drive them to remote areas within Akure, rob them of their mobile phones, compelling them to transfer money from their bank accounts at gunpoint.

Odunlami said the gun used was later discovered to be a toy gun.

Items recovered from the suspects, according to the police image maker, included a Toyota Camry used in the operations, Knife, iron rod and a Toy gun.

The police command confirmed that “the suspects, who have been on the Command’s watch list, have confessed to the crime and investigations are ongoing to apprehend any other accomplice(s). The Ondo State Police Command remains committed to ensuring the safety and security of all residents.
