Dr. Ayobami Aranmolate Rasheed, a renowned Nigerian plastic surgeon and burn consultant, has reiterated his commitment to revolutionizing the healthcare sector in Nigeria. As the Chief Medical Director of Grandville Medical and Laser Clinics, Dr. Rasheed continues to champion access to quality medical services while addressing the growing issue of medical brain drain.

Dr. Rasheed, who gained widespread recognition in 2018 after performing a successful cosmetic surgery on Nollywood actress Tonto Dikeh, has become a leading figure in aesthetic and reconstructive surgery. His expertise extends to procedures such as Brazilian Butt Lifts, liposuction, breast enhancement, and post-trauma reconstructive surgeries.

In a bold step towards improving healthcare accessibility, he recently announced plans to expand Grandville Medical and Laser Clinics to all six geopolitical zones of Nigeria. This initiative aims to decentralize medical expertise and reduce the need for Nigerians to seek cosmetic and reconstructive procedures abroad.

“My vision is to ensure that every Nigerian has access to world-class medical care within our borders,” Dr. Rasheed said. “We have the talent and expertise right here in Nigeria, and it is time we change the narrative that quality healthcare can only be found outside the country.”

Born in Lagos and originally from Ijebu-Ode, Ogun State, Dr. Rasheed’s journey in medicine began with his studies at the University of Lagos, where he was a National Chevron University Scholar. His postgraduate training at the National Orthopedic Hospital, Igbobi, solidified his path in burns, plastic, and reconstructive surgery. He has since undergone specialized training at prestigious institutions, including Johns Hopkins University and the University of Utah in the USA, as well as Akademikliniken in Sweden.

Beyond his clinical work, Dr. Rasheed hosts Dr. Laser’s Diary, a medical reality television show on Africa Magic Showcase, aimed at demystifying plastic surgery and educating the public on various reconstructive procedures. “There is a lot of misinformation about plastic surgery. Through Dr. Laser’s Diary, I want to provide factual, science-backed knowledge to help people make informed decisions about their health and wellness,” he stated.

Dr. Rasheed’s contributions have earned him fellowships with the West African College of Surgeons and the American Academy of Aesthetic Medicine. He has also played a pivotal role in promoting medical tourism in Nigeria through advanced procedures and high standards of care.

As Nigeria continues to grapple with healthcare challenges, Dr. Rasheed remains optimistic. “We have the potential to become a global hub for medical tourism. With continued investment in our healthcare system and training, we can provide solutions that meet international standards right here at home,” he affirmed.

With his passion for innovation and patient care, Dr. Ayobami Rasheed stands as a beacon of progress in Nigeria’s medical industry, inspiring a new generation of healthcare professionals and reshaping perceptions about plastic and reconstructive surgery.
