…marks 64th National Day, 34th Liberation Day anniversary

The State of Kuwait has reaffirmed its commitment to education in Nigeria through a major initiative targeting over 200,000 out-of-school children in Kaduna State.

Speaking at the 64th National Day and 34th Liberation Day celebration in Nigeria, on Monday in Abuja, the Ambassador of Kuwait, H.E. Mr. Salim Khalifa Almuzayen, highlighted the “Reaching Out of School Children” project as a key intervention funded by the Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development, in partnership with UNICEF.

He emphasized the historical ties between Nigeria and Kuwait, which date back to the 1960s, citing the Al-Sabah School in Kaduna as a symbol of this enduring relationship.

Almuzayen highlighted Kuwait’s commitment to moderation in foreign policy and its Vision 2035, aimed at transforming the country into a regional financial, commercial, and cultural center.

He said, “the State of Kuwait adopts the principle of moderation in its foreign policy, with clear features and frameworks in its diplomatic relations, with its aspiration for the whole world to participate in its Vision 2035 for the future Kuwait as a regional financial, commercial and cultural center.

“I would like to commend on the Excellent and Historical Bilateral relations between the State of Kuwait and the friendly Federal Republic of Nigeria, which extend since the sixties of the last century, as the Al-Sabah School, was built in Kaduna State in that Era, reflects the depth of these historical relations and shows further prospectives to develop new horizons for cooperation in various areas between the two friendly Countries.

“In this context, | would like to mention the ambitious and pioneer project funded by Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development with distinguished Partners and UNICEF in Kaduna State, named “Reaching Out of School Children” Project, which aims to assist over 200,000 Students.” Almuzayen said.

Representing the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Yusuf Maitama Tuggar, the Senior Councilor, Middle East and Gulf Division, Adeolu Okenla, commended Kuwait for its contributions to education and regional peace.

He congratulated the government and people of Kuwait on the national celebration, reaffirming Nigeria’s readiness to strengthen bilateral cooperation in various sectors.

He said, “Nigeria would like to commend the State of Kuwait for its contribution to regional peace and development in the Middle East region, especially within the Gulf Cooperation Council, which includes member states such as the State of Kuwait itself, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, United Arab Emirates, Qatar and Oman.

“The free education policy of Kuwait, from primary school and up to university level, that has put the country’s total adult literacy to 96.46%, is highly commendable equally among other achievements.

“Please keep up the good work, as I want to congratulate the government and the people of the State of Kuwait once again on this special occasion.”
