How Elizabeth Adeyefa is turning data into national growth

By Joy Isioma

As the world increasingly leans on data to shape economies, Elizabeth Adeyefa stands out as one of the voices proving that numbers are more than just figures—they are levers for national transformation.

From helping small businesses thrive through innovative credit systems at First Bank to unlocking millions in agricultural investments at Klick Konnect, her journey reflects how data-driven insights can translate into real economic growth.

Elizabeth, looking back, what do you consider your biggest professional milestone?

For me, it has been showing that data can change national outcomes. At First Bank, supporting SMEs with innovative credit facilities not only boosted revenue but also helped small businesses survive. At Klick Konnect, my analytics gave international investors the confidence to commit millions into Nigeria’s agriculture. That, to me, is impact.

Nigeria still struggles with inefficiency and lack of transparency. How did you address these challenges?

I focused on building systems that made information reliable and accessible. Dashboards, predictive models, and real-time reporting allowed executives and policymakers to act faster. Once stakeholders trust the numbers, they are more willing to take bold steps.

What broader impact has your work had on Nigeria?

My work has helped attract investment, create jobs, and improve efficiency. But beyond projects, I’m proud of the analysts I’ve mentored. More than 30 of them are now in leadership positions. That means Nigeria now has a stronger human capital base in analytics and strategy.

What advice do you have for Nigeria’s leaders today?

Embrace transparency. If we use data honestly and strategically, we will attract more investments, improve governance, and solve many of our development challenges. Nigeria has enormous potential , but only if we are bold enough to manage it with evidence, not assumptions.

And for young professionals?

Invest in skills that solve problems. Don’t see data as numbers alone — see it as a story that can shape industries and change lives. If you make your work relevant to people, opportunities will follow.
