The Vice President of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR), Prof. Emmanuel Dandaura, has emphasized that good governance—anchored on accountability and respect for the rule of law—is essential for building a credible reputation.

Dandaura made this statement during the “Reputation Round Table” organized by the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Chapter of the NIPR in Abuja on Tuesday.

He said, “The issues of good governance, accountability, and participation are crucial to reputation. We must assist our leaders at various levels in ensuring that their actions and decision-making processes help reduce the credibility deficit and foster greater public involvement.”

The NIPR Vice President highlighted the need for trained professionals in reputation management to address Nigeria’s growing reputation challenges both locally and internationally.

He also advised corporate and government leaders to seek and heed professional advice, warning that neglecting expert guidance could have severe consequences—not only for individual reputations but also for organizations and the nation as a whole.

Commending the FCT Chapter for organizing the training, Dandaura stressed the importance of professionalism in public relations, emphasizing that well-trained reputation managers contribute significantly to Nigeria’s overall image and credibility.

In his welcome address, the FCT Chapter Chairman of NIPR, Stanley Ogadigo, noted that the event aimed to enhance members’ skills for improved service delivery.

According to him, public relations officers and reputation managers, whether in government or the private sector, must seize every opportunity to refine their skills in an ever-evolving world to remain effective in their roles.
