The immediate past Southwest Coordinator of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), Comrade Alao John, has commended the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Student Engagement, Comrade Sunday Asefon, for serving as an effective liaison between students and the presidency.
In a statement on Friday, he said, “I, Comrade Alao John, the immediate past NANS Southwest Coordinator and a NANS presidential spokesperson aspirant, applaud Honourable Sunday Asefon, the SSA to the President on Student Engagement, for being the voice of Nigerian students to the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, President Bola Tinubu.
NANS has long been at the forefront of advocating for equity, equality, leadership development, and free qualitative education at all levels through orientation, advocacy, capacity building, constructive agitation, justice, and good governance. Comrade Sunday Asefon, who once led the association, has continued to champion these causes in his current role.

As a NANS presidential spokesperson aspirant and on behalf of Nigerian students, I commend Comrade Sunday Asefon for fostering strong relationships between students and the government. His dedication has made it clear that NANS and Nigerian students at large will experience positive progress under his leadership in student affairs. We stand ready to support him in his efforts.”
Alao also expressed appreciation to President Bola Tinubu for establishing more universities, empowering youth across various government sectors, and promoting active youth involvement in politics. He further praised the president for providing CNG buses and palliatives to Nigerian students, facilitated through the proactive efforts of the SSA on Student Engagement.
Additionally, he commended Asefon’s astuteness in handling student-related matters.
