ABUJA — THE Minister of Regional Development, Engr. Abubakar Momoh, has expressed grief over the passing of the elder statement, Pa Edwin Clark, describing the Ijaw leader as a movement.

The Minister in a statement in Abuja said the late nonagenarian, was his unofficial adviser, adding that Pa Clark was always willing to offer guidance with a deep sense of patriotism and love for the Niger Delta.

Engr. Momoh said Chief Clark”s fearless criticism of injustice and dedication to regional development cemented his place as a champion of the people.

The statement read: “It is with profound sorrow that I join the nation in mourning the passing of an icon, a fearless advocate, and a paramount leader of the Niger Delta, Chief Edwin Clark.

“His demise is a monumental loss not only to the Ijaw Nation but to the entire Niger Delta and Nigeria as a whole.

“Chief Edwin Clark was not just a leader; he was a movement—an unwavering voice for justice, good governance, and equitable development. Whenever he spoke, the nation listened. Whenever he sneezed, the entire nation was impacted.

“His courage, wisdom, and relentless advocacy for the betterment of his people made him a towering figure in our national discourse. His fearless criticism of injustice and dedication to regional development cemented his place as a champion of the people.

“I had the distinct honor of engaging him in regular consultations. He was my unofficial adviser, always willing to offer guidance with a deep sense of patriotism and love for the Niger Delta. His wise counsel and unwavering support will be deeply missed.

“As we grieve this irreplaceable loss, we also celebrate the extraordinary life he lived—a life dedicated to justice, service, and the fight for equity. His legacy will continue to inspire generations to come, serving as a beacon of hope for those who seek a just and prosperous Nigeria.

“On behalf of the Ministry of Regional Development and the entire Niger Delta, I extend my heartfelt condolences to his family, the Ijaw Nation, and all those whose lives were touched by his remarkable contributions.”

He prayed for a peaceful repose of deceased and asked that the Almighty grant him eternal rest and give those he left behind the fortitude to uphold the values Chief Clark so passionately defended.
