BENIN CITY – THE Deputy Governor of Edo State, Hon Dennis Idahosa said the Sen. Monday Okebholo’s administration was ready to collaborate with the private sector to check insecurity in the state.
As a way of preparing the ground for this collaboration which he said would lead to economic growth of the state, he said the Okpebholo administration has taken steps to overhaul the security architecture of the state, to bring about efficient service delivery and curb the growing rate of insecurity.
To achieve this, he said the government has purchased 75 Toyota Hilux vehicles, motorcycles for onward distribution to security Agencies, and enacted a law stipulating stiffer penalties for kidnappers, including the demolition of Hotels and residential buildings where kidnappers use for perpetrating their heinous crime.
Idahosa stated this on Monday at the commissioning of Eagle Watch Security Ltd, a private security outfit and urged the organised private sector to increase their collaboration with the state Government in unlocking the vast natural resources in the state for the benefit of all.
He said “the state Government is conscious of the fact that checkmating insecurity is a collective bargaining of all, especially the organised private sector” and commended the founder of the outfit, Eng. Greg Ogbeifun a marine engineer for investing in the security sector of the state Economy.
On his part, Ogbeifun said the security outfit was registered with the corporate Affairs commission in 1999 and fully licensed by the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC).
He said apart from providing jobs to many youths roaming the streets, “Eagle watch security Ltd is equipped with highly trained and experienced security operatives and a competent team of experienced security coordinators that are poised to deliver excellent security services tailored to meet security needs of clients.”
The occasion which was attended by two former Governors of Edo State, Chief John Odigie-Oyegun, Chief Lucky Igbinedion, Head of Service, Dr Anthony Okungbowa, AIG Zone Five, Argunwa Nwanzue climaxed with a reception to Mark the 74 years birthday of Ogbeifun.
