The Anioma Youth Professionals (AYP), Saturday pledged their unwavering support for Senator Ned Nwoko despite his recent defection to the All Progressives Congress (APC), emphasizing that his leadership and commitment to development transcend party politics.
In a statement issued by AYP Vice President Nonso Okafor, the group reiterated their loyalty to the senator, noting that his contributions to the Delta North Senatorial District remain invaluable.
“We, the Anioma Youth Professionals, want to assure you of our unwavering loyalty and support, even as you transition to the APC,” Okafor said. “Your intelligence, dedication, and leadership have always inspired us, and political affiliations will not change our commitment to you.”
Nwoko, previously a member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), recently made headlines with his switch to the APC, a move that has stirred mixed reactions. However, AYP insists that party affiliation is secondary to effective governance and impact.
“For us, good governance is not about political labels but about integrity, vision, and service to the people,” Okafor added. “Senator Nwoko has demonstrated all these qualities, and we will continue to support him, both at home and in the diaspora.”
The senator’s move has also gained support from various Anioma youth groups and political stakeholders.
Chuka Nwanze, a youth activist from Asaba, expressed confidence in Nwoko’s leadership, stating, “Senator Ned Nwoko has been a beacon of hope for young people in Delta North. His efforts in education, youth empowerment, and infrastructure speak for themselves. If joining APC strengthens his ability to serve, we stand by him.”
Similarly, Grace Nwosu, a businesswoman from Ogwashi-Uku, said the political consciousness of the Anioma people has evolved beyond party lines. “We now focus on individuals, not party symbols. Nwoko has consistently shown he has Delta North’s best interests at heart, and we support him,” she said.
AYP’s endorsement further solidifies Nwoko’s grassroots support as he navigates his new political path. With backing from both his constituency and the diaspora, the senator’s influence appears unaffected by his transition.
As Delta State’s political landscape continues to evolve, the Anioma Youth Professionals have made their stance clear—party politics may shift, but their trust in Senator Ned Nwoko remains steadfast.
