Anambra 2025: APC Guber ticket gets tough as Johnbosco Onunkwo declares interest

Aguata — The upcoming Anambra APC Gubernatorial Primary Election promises to be highly competitive with the official declaration of interest by High Chief Engr Johnbosco Onunkwo, a top stakeholder and founding member of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

A veteran in the political landscape, Onunkwo is a former gubernatorial aspirant and a key financier of the APC since its inception.

Speaking during his declaration before the Zonal Executive Committee of the Party from Anambra South Senatorial District, along with the executives from Aguata and six other local government areas, Onunkwo, fondly known as “Onwa Umuchu,” highlighted his contributions to the growth of the APC across his ward, local government, and state. He emphasized his impactful work in the lives of many Anambra residents and beyond.

He promised a comprehensive development agenda for Anambra State, asserting that his background as an engineer equips him to address the state’s security challenges effectively. He also reaffirmed his commitment to fostering progress and prosperity if entrusted with the APC mandate.

Onunkwo appealed to party faithful, leaders, and stakeholders to support his candidacy, assuring them of his qualifications, grassroots influence, experience, passion, and compassion for positive change. He coined his vision as Four Years of Ifediche for Anambra State.

The APC Chairman for Umuchu Ward urged Anambra South Senatorial Zone members to rally behind Onunkwo, emphasizing his unique qualities for driving sustainable development.

A prominent stakeholder highlighted the essential qualities needed for an ideal governor, stating, “A leader must have vision and capacity. Among the aspirants, Engr Johnbosco Onunkwo stands out as the most competent and widely accepted candidate for APC.”

The event was well-attended by party officials, including executives from Aguata’s 20 wards, led by Hon. Godson Anyadike. Also present were executives from the 27 local government areas of Aguata, zonal executives led by Hon. Izuchukwu Okeke, and members of the state executive from Anambra South, led by State Secretary Mazi Engr Chidi Orji.

In their remarks, Chief Anyadike and Hon. Izuchukwu Okeke praised Onunkwo for his contributions and commitment to the party, pledging their support for his gubernatorial aspirations.
