NCA graduates over 5,000, holds 11th convocation ceremony

Jos – The Nigerian College of Accountancy, NCA, the training arm of the Association of National Accountants of Nigeria, ANAN has recently graduated about 5,600 students as the College holds its 11th convocation ceremony on Saturday.

The Director General of the College, Dr. Friday Akpan, who spoke with journalists at the College’s premises at Kwall, Bassa local government area of Plateau State, pointed out the efforts of the Nigerian College of Accountancy to advance the Science of Accountancy and empower accountants in the country to deliver on their responsibilities.

He noted that the ANAN Act 76 Section 8 (1d) specifically recognizes the Nigerian College of Accountancy as an indispensable tool in the pursuit of excellence in professional accounting education and training and the establishment of the College, which is first in Nigeria and third globally has transformed positively the accountancy profession.

He highlighted that the College which started at its temporary sites at the Barkin Ladi Local Government Area of Plateau State before moving to its permanent site at Kwall, has its Courses of study and conditions carefully crafted to ensure its graduates are well-rounded and blended professionals, vast in knowledge, skilled and very committed to the ethical conduct.

The DG acknowledged that training is a process of development and called for transparency and accountability in every sphere of life.

“The 11th Convocation marks the production of another set of skilled and knowledgeable professional Accountants-to-be who will continue to push further the frontiers of the new dispensational move in the development of Accountancy practice in Nigeria and beyond. This College is pivotal to the training and development, preparing graduates of accounting to be certified as professional accountants in Nigeria, and also induct them into the profession.

“The 11th convocation ceremony is the second that I have conducted since I came into office; we keep tap to ensure that accounting standards are maintained, and we all need to be accountable and transparent in our conduct.

“Since the inception of the College in 1993/1994 in Barkin Ladi, over 60,000 students have graduated from here. This convocation ceremony is for the 29th and 30th sets which graduated in 2022-2023/2023-2024,” he explained.
