…Says Ogbuku has prioritized equity, transparency

The Ijaw Youth Council, IYC, Central Zone, has kicked against the purported protest notice issued by the Coalition of Niger Delta Civil Society Organizations, CNDCSOs, and the Niger Delta Ex-agitators’ Forum against the leadership of Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC.

IYC said while it acknowledges the complexities and historical grievances faced by communities in the Niger Delta, however, asserted that the claims put forward by the coalition lack substantiation and fail to reflect the significant strides made under the current administration of the NDDC.

In a statement by its Information Officer, Central Zone, Comrade Ginah Ikio, IYC noted that “the allegations of financial impropriety, political bias, and mismanagement articulated by the CNDCSOs is unfounded and contradictory to the positive developments being seen within the NDDC,” adding that the Ogbuku led NDDC has prioritized equity and transparency, striving to ensure that all nine member states receive fair opportunities regarding projects and employments.

Ikio said: “The IYC believe that the leadership of Chief Samuel Ogbuku is vital to the ongoing peace and progress in the Niger Delta area. His focus on infrastructure development, education, and sustainable economic growth have been instrumental in empowering our communities. The IYC Central Zone stands in solidarity with him and implores the so called coalition to focus on collaborative measures that will move our region forward rather than engaging in divisive rhetoric.

“The IYC urge all stakeholders within the Niger Delta to unite in support of the NDDC and resist the temptation to manipulate sentiments for personal or political gain as constructive dialogue and collaborative efforts will yield far better results than imaginary protests that may further strain the relationship between our communities and the federal government. The challenges we face are better addressed through unity and cooperation rather than confrontation.

“In light of these developments, we appeal to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to disregard the unfounded claims made by the non existent CNDCSOs and to recognize the efforts of Chief Samuel Ogbuku and his leadership team. We are confident that with continued support and encouragement from the federal government, the NDDC can fulfill its mandate and bring about the desired transformation in the Niger Delta.”
