Delta community leader charges BEDC on electricity restoration

The Benin Electricity Distribution Company (BEDC), has been urged to expedite action in the restoration and commission of electricity to Isheagu community in Aniocha South Local Area of Delta State.

A community leader, Hon Eugene Chiedu Modebe, who made the plea in a statement, in Isheagu, urged BEDC not to leave any stone unturned in its efforts to restore public power supply to the area.

Chiedu Modebe stated that expediting action on the project has become imperative in order not to reverse the gains made so far.

He also noted that slowing down on the project would not be in the interest of the people of the Isheagu community and its environs as hoodlums may take advantage to vandalize the facilities.

According to him, “leaving the project halfway without power would make it easier for miscreants to vandalize and steal whatever the contractor has done already.”

The Enuani clan /Isheagu community has been without public power supply for more than two decades.

The lack of public power supply followed the vandalization of the 33KVA line that supplies electricity to the communities.

Following several Save-Our-Soul (SOS) messages and intense lobbying by critical stakeholders, the federal government, through RT Hon. Ndudi Elumelu, flagged off work in order to restore  electricity  to the affected communities.

The scope of the restoration work includes the replacement of high tension cables, transformers, and other allied works.

According to the contractor,  the project has been completed and all set for commissioning.
