One person stands out for his original ideas in the fast-paced world of finance, where technology is always changing our money interactions. Leading this metamorphosis is Stephen Awanife Oghenemaro, a reputable Data Engineer with extensive experience in banking and digital transformation, who is carefully creating solutions that guarantee both innovation and honesty. His groundbreaking work is constantly changing how financial companies understand their customers and protect their most confidential data.

Stephen’s knowledge is built on a strong academic foundation, including a Master of Science degree in Data Science from the University of Gloucestershire, United Kingdom. He also holds a Higher National Diploma (HND) in Computer Science from the Federal Polytechnic Bida, Nigeria.

One of his innovative research projects investigates deeply “Customer Churn Prediction in Digital Banking: A Comparative Study of XAI Techniques for Interpretative Decision-Making”. Financial institutions struggle to understand why consumers stop using their services, a phenomenon known as churn, which this study tackles. Though conventional predictive models can correctly forecast churn, their lack of openness is a major obstacle in governed industries such banking, where accountability and clarity are paramount. To make these challenging forecasts understandable, his novel approach investigates SHAP and LIME, two explainable artificial intelligence (XAI) methods. Customer lifetime, digital activity (like monthly logins and mobile app use), and complaint frequency were all found to be major predictors of churn by the study. Crucially, it determined that XAI instruments are essential for fostering transparency, trust, and user-friendliness of AI outcomes in controlled areas like banking.

Stephen works as a Data and Reporting Analyst and Building Supervisor at CCP in Gloucester, England. In this role, he has developed and maintained real-time financial dashboards using Power BI. He collaborates with finance and IT teams to optimize data models, document data processes, and conduct thorough data audits. His efforts have led to the creation of automated reporting systems that reduced financial report turnaround time by 50%

He also reinforced data governance systems and put into action emergency recovery plans to preserve important financial information. SQL, Python, Power BI, and experience in data governance and cloud architecture define Stephen’s technical abilities.

Stephen Awanife Oghenemaro is a visionary, guiding the financial sector toward a more intelligent, safe, and deeply customer-centric future; he is not only a researcher. His guidelines are simple: give financial analytics XAI tools top priority, highlight features that are not only predictive but also simple to grasp, and continually include human knowledge into model development. Developing long-lasting trust with every client depends on these actions.
