…..they create jobs for the youths

THE federal and state governments have been urged to support the tech industrial sector as it is well-positioned to fast-track the growth of the nation’s economy.

The Managing Director of BLord Group, a Fintech company based in Anambra State, Mr. Linus Ifejika, who spoke while honouring agents of the company in Awka, observed that such support would be a way of supporting young people, many of whom are operating in that sector.

Ifejika, whose company owns the Billpoint App used for payment of utility bills across the country, pledged the company’s preparedness to create many millionaires among Nigerian youths through deliberate hard work.

The businessman, who has also been named among the richest under 30 youths in the country, said he chose to operate from Anambra State to expose youths from this part of the country to tech business, as well as respond to the call by Governor Chukwuma Soludo for the people of the state to invest in the state.

He said: “We have about 300 agents and we desire to make many of them millionaires. Next year, some of our agents will go home with brand-new cars because our company believes in empowering people as long as God blesses us with innovative ideas.

“I decided to bring the company to Anambra to inspire our people and to prove that we can make it here if we work hard.

“We also want to support Governor Chukwuma Soludo to develop Anambra State. I have been under pressure to relocate my company from Awka to Lagos or Abuja, but if I leave Awka, what will these young people who are in my employ do? We have over 300 Billpoint agents and thousands of dependants.

“Within the seven years that we have been in existence, we have created many young millionaires. We are the only tech company in Anambra today, and we do not intend to leave soon. We only ask that the government support the tech sector so that young people who wish to pursue a career in the sector can thrive.

“In our company, we employ people without asking for years of experience because we know that most of those who want to play in the tech sector are young people. We bring young people in and give them the experience they need to thrive.

“I am 26 years old and I want to help many other young people to grow. So there is no way we can be asking young people to come with years of experience before we can employ them. I have time to grow and I’m going to use that time to grow with all my agents.”
