TCkzone honours Lagos education district for digital excellence

The TCKZone District Digital Challenge ended with a spectacular celebration of digital literacy and innovation, as Edem Eddy Favour from Surulere Girls Senior Secondary School in Lagos Education District IV emerged the 1st Place Winner, securing the top prize of ₦1 million.

Organized by The Creative Kids Zone Initiative (TCKZone), a nonprofit founded by Oluwadamilola Ojo, with a mission to empower young students with the digital skills they need to thrive in the evolving landscape of the digital age. TCKZone’s flagship program, the Digital Skills Fellowship for Young Students, aims to provide accessible and affordable digital skills training to 500,000 young students in Nigeria, Ghana, and Kenya, through partnerships with local schools and community organizations.

The District Digital Challenge competition which is a part of the TCKZone’s flagship program, brought together 491 public schools across Lagos State, who went through a detailed digital skills curriculum over a 4 weeks period taught by their teachers who had received details trainings on the topics. Following a process of selection for full participation of all 4 weeks training, 91 schools qualified for preliminary assessments where they were administered an assessment of objective questions on digital literacy in their respective schools, and 30 advanced to the grand finale where they wrote a CBT assessment at SKOOQS CITY to determine the winners.
Other winners included: Olawale Alex, Mafoluku Senior Grammar School, Lagos Education District VI (2nd Place – ₦500,000), Bennybonny Prosper, Oregun Senior High School, Lagos Education District VI (3rd Place – ₦300,000), Mr. Agoro Idowu Olamipo, awarded ₦200,000 as the Top Performing Teacher for his exceptional mentorship and dedication to his students.
Dignitaries at the event included: Dr. Grace Olayibo Akinfoyewa, Director of Basic Science and Technology, representing the Commissioner of Basic and Secondary Education, Honourable Olarewaju Oladayo Isaac, Supervisor of Education, Ojodu LCDA, Mrs. Adegbile, Director of Education, representing the Permanent Secretary of Education, Dr. Olusola Adenekan, Head of Partnerships, TCKZone.
In her remarks, Dr. Akinfoyewa praised TCKZone’s transformative work, describing the initiative as “a bold demonstration of what is possible when education and technology intersect.”
Oluwadamilola Soyombo Ojo, TCKZone’s founder, expressed her gratitude to all participating schools, teachers, and students: “This challenge was more than a competition, it was a movement to inspire digital literacy, foster innovation, and empower the next generation of leaders. I am proud of what we have achieved together.”

Speaking at the grand finale, Oluwadamilola Ojo shared the inspiration behind the project, she said “Our vision is To be a catalyst for positive change by fostering a generation of tech-literate and creative individuals who can thrive in the digital age”
With approval from Hon. Jamiu Alli-Balogun, Commissioner of Basic and Secondary Education, and the support of Lagos State Educational Districts, the TCKZone District Digital Challenge reflects the growing commitment to integrating technology into public education in Nigeria.
