A single mother and petty trader, Mrs Comfort Oahimije, is making a desperate plea for financial assistance to save her seven-year-old son, David Oahimije, who is battling stage 4 nephroblastoma, a rare and aggressive kidney cancer that has spread to his lungs.
According to a medical report from Irrua Specialist Teaching Hospital in Edo State, David’s condition requires immediate intervention, including surgery and chemotherapy, to improve his chances of survival.
The hospital has estimated the total cost of treatment at N3 million, covering two cycles of chemotherapy (neoadjuvant) before surgery, followed by six months of chemotherapy (adjuvant), making a total of eight cycles. Each cycle spans 21 days.
Mrs. Comfort, who sells goods with a wheelbarrow at Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma, has exhausted her savings, taken loans, and sold off her belongings to cover tests, scans, and transportation for her son’s treatment.
Speaking through the Gifting Volunteer Network, a nonprofit organization she contacted for help, Mrs. Comfort expressed her anguish:
“I am the only child of my parents and have no one else to turn to. I am a single parent struggling to make ends meet, but I cannot bear the thought of losing my son to cancer. Nigerians, please help me save my son through Gifting Volunteer Network.”
She added, “I have already borrowed money for his scans and tests, but I need help to cover the cost of chemotherapy and surgery. Please, I am begging you all to save my child.”
David’s mother is now appealing to well-meaning Nigerians, organizations, and philanthropists to come to her aid. Contributions to help save David’s life can be sent directly to his account:

David’s life hangs in the balance, and his mother is clinging to hope that kind-hearted Nigerians will step in to give him a chance at survival.
