The lawmaker representing Badagry Constituency in the House of Representatives, Honourable Sesi Whingan, has launched an educational initiative aimed at improving the learning environment and enhancing educational resources in public primary schools in Badagry.

Speaking at the event, tagged the Strategic Educational Empowerment Programme, Whingan stated that the initiative was designed to provide essential educational materials to public schools in the three councils within Badagry.
The lawmaker, represented by Prince Wale Adesina, explained that the programme was sponsored by the Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency of Nigeria (SMEDAN).
According to Whingan, the initiative seeks to uplift the learning experience for primary school pupils and ensure that students in these communities have the necessary tools to excel in their education.
“The items procured and to be distributed through the collaboration with SMEDAN include a large number of essential teaching aids such as whiteboards, chalkboards, exercise books, school bags, food flasks, stationery sets, and packs of pencils.
“These materials will be evenly distributed to all public primary schools across the Badagry Federal Constituency,” he said.
Adesina commended the lawmaker for his continued commitment to the development of Badagry and its people, particularly in the area of education.
“This programme is a testament to Whingan’s dedication to creating lasting positive change in the lives of young people in Badagry. By equipping our schools with these essential materials, we are investing in the future of our children,” he said.
The presentations were made to representatives from various primary schools in attendance.
The educational materials include 2,000 whiteboards, 300 chalkboards, 200 dusters, pencils, crayons, 350 staplers, 1,000 scientific calculators, 2,000 mathematical sets, 5,000 school bags, and numerous stainless lunch food packs.
More than 57 primary schools and 16 secondary schools in the Badagry Federal Constituency are expected to benefit from the programme.
Speaking at the event, Mrs. Modinat Adebayo, representing the Badagry Local Government Education Authority, pledged that staff and students in Badagry schools would use the materials judiciously.
She noted that Whingan’s generous support, facilitated through the collaboration with SMEDAN, would significantly impact the quality of education and empower students to thrive academically.
Prominent personalities who graced the occasion included Alhaji Gafar Menyon, APC Chairman of Badagry Local Government; Mr. Ebenezer Babalola, APC Chairman of Olorunda LCDA; Chief Pius Hunyingan, the lawmaker’s father; Leader Avigbe Joshua; officials from SMEDAN, and other distinguished guests.
