The Ogun State Police Command on Sunday said that it has rescued a missing girl from Ota, in the Ado-Odo/Ota local government area of the state, during a covert operation spearheaded by the Anti-Kidnapping Unit.

It was gathered that the operation, led by the State Commissioner of Police, Lanre Ogunlowo, culminated in the girl’s recovery in Ayetoro, Ogun State, and the arrest of all suspects linked to the abduction.

The State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Omolola Odutola, disclosed the development in a statement released on Sunday evening.

According to the statement, the rescue was the result of swift action and intelligence-driven efforts by the Anti-Kidnapping team.

“On a swift covert operation by the Commissioner of Police, Ogun State Police Command, CP Lanre Ogunlowo, PhD, the Ota missing girl was found in Ayetoro Ogun State by the Anti-Kidnapping team, and all suspects have been arrested,” the statement read.

The police assured the public that more details about the operation, the suspects, and the circumstances surrounding the girl’s abduction would be provided during a press briefing scheduled for tomorrow by CP Lanre Ogunlowo.

The police spokesperson urged members of the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to law enforcement authorities.

It would be recalled that Akinde was reportedly abducted last week in Sango-Ota, sparking public concern and a search for her whereabouts.

The police confirmed the abduction but denied allegations that officers demanded N40,000 from the complainant to process the case.

The command acknowledged that the officer who initially received the complaint acted unprofessionally by failing to escalate the matter to the Divisional Police Officer for prompt attention.

The police command disclosed that disciplinary actions have been initiated against the erring officers for mishandling the incident.
