The Executive Secretary and Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian Shippers’ Council, Barrister Ukeyima Akutah, has declared Ogun State as a leader in Nigeria’s ongoing industrial revolution spearheaded by the Federal Government.
Akutah attributed this recognition to Ogun’s remarkable progress in the Ease of Doing Business Index, aligning with the policy direction of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration to modernize production systems, foster industrialization, create jobs, and achieve prosperity.
Speaking on Monday during a visit to the Governor’s Office in Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta, Akutah praised the Ogun State Government for its significant investments in infrastructural development, which he said have bolstered industrial growth and complemented the Federal Government’s transformation agenda.
The Shippers’ Council boss led a delegation comprising directors and senior officials from the agency. During the visit, they presented an Outlined Certificate of Compliance for the Inland Dry Port located in the Papalanto area of the state. The dry port project had recently been inaugurated by the Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Alhaji Adegboyega Oyetola.
Akutah commended Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, for his visionary leadership and commitment to enhancing the state’s business environment through infrastructure development.
“We applaud your administration for consistently advancing infrastructure across all sectors of the economy. Key examples include the Gateway International Agro-Cargo Airport and the Inland Dry Port, for which we are presenting the Certificate of Compliance today,” Akutah said.
“Your leadership has positioned Ogun State at the forefront of Nigeria’s industrial revolution, as envisioned by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. These initiatives are pivotal to achieving sustainable transformation and industrialization.”
Governor Dapo Abiodun expressed gratitude to the Shippers’ Council for its support and the issuance of the Certificate of Compliance for the Papalanto Inland Dry Port, describing it as a crucial milestone in the project’s establishment.
He highlighted the port’s strategic importance in decongesting Lagos ports while boosting industrial activities in Ogun State, home to Nigeria’s largest number of industries.
The Governor emphasized that his administration’s adoption of a Multi-Modal Transportation System would ensure the Inland Dry Port operates efficiently, aligning with the Federal Government’s industrialization drive.
“The Papalanto Inland Dry Port will serve as a vital hub for logistics and industrial operations, further enhancing Ogun’s status as a major economic and industrial center in Nigeria,” Governor Abiodun stated.
