Mohammed Yusuf receives 2024 Engineer of the Year Innovation award

The Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE) has honored Engr. Mohammed Yusuf, with the 2024 Engineer of the Year Innovation Award for his outstanding contributions to engineering innovation, research, and leadership.

The award was presented during the 2024 NSE Annual National Conference, held November 18–22, 2024, in Abuja, under the theme “Sustainable Engineering Solutions to Food Security and Climate Change.

Yusuf was recognized for his exceptional work in sustainable construction materials, project management, and environmentally responsible engineering. His research on sustainable concrete using industrial and agricultural waste and advancements in additive manufacturing materials have helped promote a greener and more efficient approach to infrastructure development across West Africa. His studies published in international journals have strengthened the connection between academic research and practical engineering innovation.

The NSE, Nigeria’s chartered professional engineering institution, is the country’s foremost organization for promoting excellence and ethical practice within the engineering profession. The Engineer of the Year Innovation Award is one of its most distinguished recognitions, granted annually to a small number of engineers whose work demonstrates measurable innovation, leadership, and national impact.

In his remarks, Yusuf dedicated the honor to “all engineers pushing boundaries to create resilient, climate-smart infrastructure.” He reaffirmed his commitment to mentoring young professionals and promoting sustainability through research, project management, and community-focused engineering practice.

The NSE award not only celebrates Engr. Yusuf’s exceptional individual accomplishments but also highlights his profound impact on the engineering profession and his enduring legacy of excellence.
