US-based lawyer-turned- singer, Chioito is poised to serenade fans this season with her latest single titled, “Kalo Jaiye.” Released a week ago, this Afro-pop fusion track is all about unwinding and having fun, despite life’s challenges.
The song draws a lot of inspiration from the need to unwind in the spirit of the season and sets the US-trained lawyer on a path of music relevance with her unique lyrics and rhythm .
‘Kalo Jaiye’, produced in the United States by Okithewizard, is coming on the heels of two earlier songs by Chioito, ‘Hold The Melody’ and ‘Right Here’.
Chioito says, “With this song, I wanted to create something fun to end the year… I love Yoruba and our pidgin, and how it really just lights any mood you’re in.”
“With my last song, ‘Right Here’, I showed a lot of my passionate side and with this song I just leaned into my Nigerian side because at the end of the day, I have to have fun. I decided to pay tribute to Nigeria and make the hook. I’m a pop artist as well, so you could see my pop influence in my verses. I really wanted to create a space of both hardcore Afro and hardcore pop without watering either down.”
Chioito’s music style is likened to Rihanna’s, with influences from Michael Jackson and Shakira.
‘Kalo Jaiye’ is Chioito’s third single, following ‘Hold The Melody’ and ‘Right Here’
