Owerri – The Imo State Leadership in Diaspora Forum Worldwide, that consist of 40-member organization has concluded to hold summit in Imo, January 2025 to invest in the state and boost the economic activities.
The President-General of the group, Chief Sampson Udeh, disclosed this to newsmen in Owerri, while rolling out their agenda for the summit.
According to him, “Imo State Leadership in Diaspora worldwide comprising of Imo State organizations from more than 40 countries is a testament to the global reach and determination of our people. Our organization is dedicated in addressing the economic challenges facing ndi Imo and proffering solutions.”
Explaining further about their forthcoming activities, Udeh said: “”The summit will feature keynote addresses, panel of discussions, and networking sessions focused on economic growth, preservation of cultural heritage, and the role of Imolites in diaspora in contributing to the development of Imo State and the need for adequate security in our dear Imo State. Speakers: Renowned experts and leaders, including Dr. Jovita Anyanwu and Ugorji O. Ugorji, will share their insights and experiences.”
On thy intended to achieve with the diaspora summit, they said: “The primary objectives of the summit are “To Promote economic growth and
development in Imo State. To Foster collaboration between diasporans through their leaders, Imo State Government and stakeholders. To develop actionable strategies for sustainable progress.”
He included that the target Audience for
the summit “Is open to Imo State indigenes, diaspora community members, business leaders, policymakers, and anyone interested in contributing to the development of Imo State.”
Udeh added that th main focus of the summit would target “Economic growth and development in Imo Stat. Preservation of cultural heritage and traditions. The role of Imolites in diaspora in contributing to the development of Imo.”
He pointed out that their expectations from the summit would include; “Workout Incentives govt can provide to encourage investments. Structure needed to be developed to exploit & expand the opportunities to streamline diaspora contribution. Lessons learn from such initiatives as in other states/ countries adding that; “We look forward to welcoming you to the imo State Diaspora Sumit 2025 organized by Imo State Leadership In Diaspora Forum Worldwide on January 4th, 2025.”
In conclusion, the group said it identified some of the business opportunities in Imo which include but not limited to “Agribusiness, Healthcare, Education, Power and Energy, Creative Entertainment, Manufacturing, Real Estate, Tourist, Oil & Gas Industry, IT Industry/Telecoms and Petrochemical Industry.”
