Governor Hyacinth Alia of Benue state has commissioned the Benue Investment and Property Company, BIPC, Polythene and Nylon Factory, Nails factory, and the expanded Bread and Water Factories describing the company as the symbol of hope for the industrial revival of the state.

Performing the commissioning Thursday at the three separate sites in Makurdi, the Governor noted that the ceremony was a testimonial of his administration’s enduring commitment to the economic transformation of Benue State.

Represented by the Commissioner of Industry, Trade, and Investment, Mr. Alumo Orpin, the Governor said the projects represented more than mere industrial expansion, emphasizing that they symbolized hope, progress, and the determination of this administration to uplift the lives of the people of Benue State.

He said: “The establishment and expansion of these factories signal our resolve to reduce reliance on imports, foster local production, and conserve valuable resources.”

The Governor who noted the critical roles the factories would play in boosting the economy of the state and providing job opportunities for its teeming youths said “collectively, these projects will generate thousands of direct and indirect employment opportunities, increase Internally Generated Revenue, IGR, and position Benue State as a hub of industrial growth in Nigeria.

Our state is poised for greatness, and these ventures mark the beginning of a new chapter in our journey towards economic revolution. The commissioning of these factories speaks volumes about the vision we hold for the future of Benue State: a vision of an industrially diverse, resilient, and economically self-sufficient state.

“It is a vision that places emphasis on the empowerment of the private sector, the attraction of investors, and the maximization of the vast potential of our people and resources.”

Governor Alia who commended the Dr. Raymond Asemakaha-led management of BIPC for breaking new grounds in the investment sector said, “I want to take this opportunity to reaffirm our unshakable support for the BIPC. As a government, we will continue to provide all the necessary support to ensure the success of these factories and other ventures that align with our developmental goals. The BIPC is more than a business entity; it is a symbol of hope for the industrial revival of Benue State.

The Speaker of the Benue State House of Assembly, Hyacinth Dajoh, represented by his wife, Cynthia lauded the success story of BIPC under the present leadership and commended Governor Alia for transforming the company and bringing capable and tested hands to run the firm.

Earlier, the Managing Director of BIPC said the commissioning was a milestone that represented “significant stride in our collective pursuit of economic empowerment, industrial growth, and sustainable development for the people of Benue State.”

He thanked Governor Alia for his visionary leadership and unwavering commitment to creating an enabling environment for businesses to thrive in the State noting that “his support for initiatives like ours is a testament to your dedication to building a robust economy and creating opportunities for our people.

“These projects we are commissioning today are designed to stimulate economic growth, create employment opportunities, and enhance the overall quality of life for the people of Benue State. These ventures are projected to generate 300 direct jobs and 400 indirect jobs, thereby contributing significantly to the reduction of unemployment in the state. These projects demonstrate the potential for collaboration between the government, private sector, and community to achieve shared goals.”

Dr. Asemakaha who also disclosed that the company was set to unveil its Premium Lager Beer later in the month commended his staff and management team for their hard work, dedication, and belief in the vision of the company stating that “your contributions have been invaluable, and today’s achievements are a reflection of your commitment.”
