The Yusuff Adewale Foundation has launched its Food Bank initiative across Southwest Nigeria to provide food relief to millions of households facing hunger and food insecurity.
The initiative will initially focus on Lagos, Osun, Oyo, Ogun, and Kwara states, aiming to reach 1 million households by 2025.
This ambitious plan comes at a critical time when Nigerians are grappling with food inflation and hyperinflation, which have severely impacted access to food. Yusuff Adewale, CEO of WaleAgro Services Nigeria Ltd, highlighted the challenges of 2024, stating, “This year has been difficult for Nigerians in terms of food accessibility due to inflation.”
To support the initiative, the foundation has committed to donating 5% of all farm products from its agricultural locations to the Food Bank, ensuring a steady food supply to vulnerable communities and aiding local farmers.
Additionally, the foundation has garnered support from key partners within its farm business network, expanding the initiative’s reach and impact. The foundation plans to expand the Food Bank initiative nationwide by 2026, with the goal of reaching 50 million households across Nigeria, contributing to alleviating hunger and improving food security for the country’s most disadvantaged populations.
