EFCC chairman, Ola Olukoyede
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has dismissed reports claiming it discovered $800 million, ₦700 billion in cash, and drugs worth ₦1 trillion at the residence of Bello El-Rufai, the eldest son of Nasir El-Rufai, the former Governor of Kaduna State.
The unverified report, which circulated on Wednesday, alleged that the anti-graft agency made the discovery during an operation at Bello’s residence in Kaduna State.
However, the EFCC refuted the claims in a brief statement released on Thursday via its official Facebook page, categorically denying carrying out such an operation.
Describing the claims as baseless, the EFCC stated: “EFCC Discovers $800 Million, ₦700 Billion Cash, and ₦1 Trillion Worth of Drugs at Nasir El-Rufai Son’s House in Kaduna.
“This piece of news quoted above is a false narrative of the activities of the EFCC. Members of the public are enjoined to ignore it.”
