IBOM Air, the airline wholly owned by the Akwa Ibom State government, has reaffirmed its commitment to boosting tourism and positioning the state as a top destination.
The Chairman of Ibom Air, Pastor Imo-Abasi Jacob, made this statement on Saturday, December 7, during the “Christmas Unplugged 2.0” festival at the Christmas village on Udo Udoma Avenue, Uyo.
Pastor Jacob expressed his gratitude to stakeholders and residents of Akwa Ibom for attending the celebration and making Ibom Air’s special day a success. He highlighted the increasing number of travelers flying into Uyo via Ibom Air to partake in the Christmas festival and commended Governor Umo Eno for his efforts in promoting tourism in the state.
He stated, “It gives me great pleasure to welcome all of you to Ibom Air’s day at the Christmas village. I can confidently say that we are here to offer you an experience that only Ibom Air can provide.”
Pastor Jacob emphasized the airline’s role in connecting people from various locations to Akwa Ibom, making the state a prime destination. He added, “Ibom Air is here tonight to express the spirit of Christmas by giving back to society. We are giving back to our stakeholders and sharing this celebration with all of you.”
He also thanked Governor Umo Eno for creating the Christmas experience in the state and praised the Commissioner for Culture and Tourism, Sir Charles Udoh, for enhancing the celebration.
The event was filled with talent shows, music, and dance performances, including a performance by Niger Delta artist Timaya, who entertained the crowd with his popular songs. Additionally, the event featured the presentation of prizes to three winners of the tech challenge held during the 2024 “Ibom Tech Week,” organized by the Ibom Innovation Network and sponsored by Ibom Air.
The second edition of “Christmas Unplugged,” organized by the State Ministry of Culture and Tourism, was officially opened the previous Sunday by Governor Umo Eno at Unity Park.
