…Says Healing is the Right of God’s Children

By Olayinka Latona

Pastor Enoch Adejare Adeboye, the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), dedicated the final sermon on the third day of the ongoing 2024 Holy Ghost Congress to the theme of healing.

Addressing an eager congregation after a session of praise, worship, and prophecies, Adeboye assured attendees that God’s miraculous healing had already begun. His sermon, titled “Subdue Sickness and Diseases,” emphasized the Lord as the ultimate Physician, capable and willing to restore health and wholeness to His children.

Adeboye corrected the notion that God prioritizes only the soul and spirit, stating that the Almighty is equally concerned about the physical well-being of His children. He stressed that healing is a divine right for Christians, explaining:

“God is interested not just in healing His soldiers but in their total wholeness. Healing is the bread of God’s children.”

Highlighting the many ways God can heal, Adeboye recognized the role of medical professionals but reiterated that God’s power surpasses human effort.

“God can heal by sending His word. Doctors can fail, angels can fail, men can fail, but God cannot fail. He is the God of all flesh, and nothing is too hard for Him. He can revive dead bones and raise the dead,” he said.

The cleric reminded Christians that sickness renders God’s soldiers ineffective in spiritual battles.

“A sick soldier is out of action. If a soldier is deaf, they won’t hear the commander; if blind, they can’t go to war. It’s in the interest of our Commander-in-Chief, the Lord, that we remain whole and victorious in His name.”

Adeboye encouraged believers to approach God confidently, acknowledging their identity as His children and demanding their rightful blessings.

Bishop Okonkwo: Know Your Identity in Christ

Earlier, Bishop Mike Okonkwo, the Presiding Bishop of The Redeemed Evangelical Mission (TREM), urged Christians to remain steadfast in their identity in Christ.

Speaking on the topic “Unstoppable,” Okonkwo highlighted ignorance of identity as a significant challenge for many believers, emphasizing that a loss of identity leaves Christians vulnerable to the devil.

“If a Christian loses their identity, they become an object of ridicule in the devil’s hands. Knowing who you are in Christ ensures you cannot be pushed around by circumstances.”

Okonkwo urged Christians to rise as solutions to the world’s problems and avoid living double lives.

“You are born for glory, not shame or reproach. Walk in the consciousness of your identity, and you’ll achieve more for yourself and God’s Kingdom,” he said.

He concluded by encouraging believers to fully embrace the benefits of Jesus’ sacrifice, stating:

“Knowing your identity means understanding what Jesus purchased on your behalf through His death and resurrection. When you grasp this, you can access your full potential in Him.”

The 2024 RCCG Holy Ghost Congress continues to inspire and equip participants with messages of faith, healing, and empowerment.
