The Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of CREDICORP, Engr. Uzoma Nwagba, has reassured Nigerians of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s commitment to using the recently launched Consumer Credit Scheme to provide access to life-enhancing goods and services for the citizenry.

Engr. Nwagba gave the assurance during a working visit by a team of CREDICORP officials to the Head of Civil Service of the Federation, Madam Didi Esther Walson-Jack, in her office in Abuja.

Briefing his host about the activities of CREDICORP, Nwagba disclosed that no fewer than 25,000 Nigerian civil servants had accessed the scheme.

Describing the Consumer Credit Scheme as a groundbreaking initiative aimed at promoting financial inclusion and economic growth in Nigeria, he said the scheme would enable working-class Nigerians to access loan facilities to meet their needs and repay over time, thereby fostering social mobility and enhancing the quality of life for citizens. He also used the opportunity to introduce the corporation’s CALM Fund, which he said “specifically targets access to CNG conversions and Solar panels,” emphasizing that “civil servants are amongst the expected beneficiaries.”

The CREDICORP chieftain expressed hope for his organization’s continued and deeper engagements with the civil service in its efforts to ensure that no fewer than 400,000 civil servants, among other citizens, would have access to credit by the second quarter of 2025, adding that “the Nigeria Consumer Credit Scheme is a significant step towards achieving Tinubu’s vision of a more prosperous Nigeria.”
