The Taraba State Community and Social Development Agency (CSDA) has completed 318 micro-projects across the state’s 16 local government areas, with plans to officially hand them over to 159 communities by December.

These projects, supported by the Community Action for Resilience and Economic Stimulus (NG-CARES) initiative, were designed to strengthen infrastructure and improve living conditions in rural communities, according to Taraba CSDA spokesperson Freda Allen.

Allen highlighted that each of the 159 communities, distributed across Taraba’s three senatorial zones, received projects tailored to meet specific needs. “The projects include drilling and installing hand pump boreholes, rehabilitating and installing solar-powered boreholes, constructing perimeter fencing for public schools, building and equipping health posts with initial drug supplies, and constructing drainage systems and box culverts to manage erosion and flooding,” she said.

She added, “All 318 micro-projects are 90% complete and are on track for handover in December 2024. The remaining work will be completed by December, ensuring the projects are ready for community ownership, maintenance, and sustainability.”

Allen noted that the projects were fully funded by the Agbu Kefas administration, with reimbursement expected from the World Bank after project verification under the NG-CARES program. In recognition of this support, the completed projects have been named “Kefas-CARES” by the agency.
