Senator Natasha upgrades one of Nigeria’s oldest secondary schools

Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan (PDP, Kogi Central), has upgraded one of Nigeria’s oldest Secondary Schools, the Abdul Aziz Attah Memorial College (AAAMCO), established in 1927, in Okene as part of activities marking her first year in office.

The institution was one of several others given a facelift and reconstructed during  the the year. It was unvailed along with several other projects at the weekend.

Chief Press Secretary to the Senator, Hon. Arogbonlo Israel , in a statement in Abuja, yesterday, noted that his principal embarked on the project in line with her commitment to education in her constituency.

He quoted Akpoti-Uduaghan as saying, “We believe that education is the foundation of a prosperous society.

“We are beginning the total overhaul of selected existing schools, such as the Abdul Aziz Attah Memorial College (AAAMCO) in Okene.

“We will also construct a brand-new model primary and secondary school in Osara and facilitate a centre for artificial intelligence and robotics at the Federal College of Education in Okene, as well as an automotive mechatronics workshop and cottage automobile workshop at the Technical College in Oboroke.

“Both projects are currently undergoing the BPP contracting process, and construction is expected to commence in the first quarter of 2025,” she added.

She kicked off the anniversary celebration by commissioning of the 1km road network at the Abdul Azeez Memorial College Okene, with by Senate Minority Leader, Senator Abba Moro cutting the ceremonial tape, thereafter she  distributed empowerment materials to youths and women.
