The National Chairman of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Umar Damagum, led a delegation of state governors and national party leaders to rally support for the party’s governorship candidate, Chief Agboola Ajayi, ahead of the upcoming Ondo State election.

The grand finale of the campaign took place in Akure, with a strong show of support from prominent figures, including PDP Governors’ Forum Chairman and Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed, Bayelsa State Governor Douye Diri, Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde, Osun State Governor Senator Ademola Adeleke, Adamawa State Governor Ahmadu Fintri, and Plateau State Governor Caleb Muftwang, among other party leaders.

Addressing the large crowd, Damagum urged Ondo residents to vote for PDP to end the hardship they have experienced under the APC government. “Reject suffering by voting out APC this Saturday. PDP has consistently delivered good governance across Nigeria,” he said.

Highlighting PDP’s track record, Damagum continued, “In PDP-governed states, you see overhead bridges, good roads, and quality schools. What has Ondo State achieved in the last six years under the APC? There has been no significant development, no good roads. At the federal level, they’ve lost touch with managing the economy, leaving you to face poverty.”

Damagum further assured supporters that a victory for Ajayi would align Ondo with other PDP-governed states, fostering progressive change. “When you elect Agboola Ajayi, he will work with his fellow PDP governors to transform Ondo and change the narrative of this country,” he added.

Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde encouraged voters to remain vigilant on election day to protect their votes. “Don’t sleep off after voting. Stay, ensure your vote is counted, recorded, and follow it to the collation centers,” he said.

Former PDP governorship candidate Eyitayo Jegede also spoke, describing a vote for PDP as a step towards “total emancipation from suffering.” He emphasized that PDP would restore the glory of Ondo State, calling on supporters to secure their voter’s cards and promising that the party would “bring light to the state.”

PDP’s current candidate, Chief Agboola Ajayi, pledged fair governance and equitable development across the state if elected, assuring supporters, “I will not disappoint you. My administration will prioritize fairness and development for all Ondo people.”
