I use music to promote peace, love – Singer, Big Berry

Rising music star, Musa Abdulmalik Oyarekhau, fondly referred to as Big Berry, has said that he use his music to spread love and peace among Nigerians and music fans.

Big Berry, whose music career started taking shape while he was in secondary school, where friends coined the nickname “Malikberry.” Upon entering Auchi Polytechnic, where the nickname evolved into “Big Berry.”

Speaking on how he got the nickname, Big Berry said, “t’s a name that represents my growth and passion for music”.

Speaking on his background, , Big Berry said, “My upbringing wasn’t easy, but my mother, Fatima, taught me to treat the world with love and peace.”

Born in Edo State, Nigeria, Berry’s family dynamics include 12 siblings and a stepmother.

As an Afrobeat and hip-hop artist, Big Berry aims to utilize his music to promote unity and positivity. “I want my songs to inspire love and peace,” he emphasized. Drawing inspiration from industry giants Wizkid, Burna Boy, and Rema, Malik Berry remains committed to his artistic vision.

When asked about the challenges he faces, Big Berry noted, “The only challenge is between me and me; every day, till I become better.” His most cherished moments are spent recording in the studio, crafting music that aligns with his values.

Despite economic hardships in 2024, Big Berry has experienced significant growth. “This year has taught me a lot and given me confidence to achieve my goals,” he said. Fans can anticipate his debut EP release by year’s end, promising an “amazing” experience.

Big Berry believes government support for the entertainments industry could be backed up through initiatives like schools for creative development and sponsorship of talented artists.

Looking ahead to 2025, Musa Abdulmalik Oyarekhau’s focus will be on promoting his EP and spreading love and peace through music. As he succinctly puts it, “My EP is coming!”
