The Stand Up Speak Out Initiative (SUSO), founded by Dr. Doyle Edeni, has launched its Small-Scale Farmers Empowerment Project in Hadejia Local Government Area, Jigawa State, in a bid to strengthen agricultural productivity and enhance food security.

The project, launched on November 5th, provides 300 farmers across the state with essential resources and agricultural training, marking a significant step in supporting local farmers and rural communities.

Each participating farmer received critical inputs to prepare for the upcoming wheat farming season, including improved Boloudh 100 wheat seeds, Indorama Urea fertilizer, and agrochemicals. “Our aim is to equip farmers with the tools and knowledge they need to succeed,” Dr. Doyle Edeni stated at the launch. “Through this project, we hope to boost food security and foster self-reliance among farmers in Jigawa State and beyond.”

Among the dignitaries present were representatives of His Royal Highness, the Emir of Hadejia, Alhaji Baffa Abubakar, and the Jigawa State Governor’s representative, Hon. Basiru Abdullahi (B-Hadejia). Hon. Abdullahi praised SUSO’s efforts, saying, “Empowering our farmers is crucial to our state’s development. This project exemplifies how partnership can support our agricultural goals and lift our communities.”

The launch attracted notable attendees, including Prof. Bashir Garba Mukhtar, Rector of Bilyaminu Usman College of Agriculture, and delegates from development organizations such as ACReSAL, JARDA, and AFAN. These stakeholders engaged in discussions around future partnerships, establishing a framework for collaborative agricultural and community development efforts.

“The SUSO Initiative’s project aligns with our objectives to reduce poverty and promote food security,” said Prof. Mukhtar. “Through such projects, we’re building a future where our farmers are better equipped to feed our state and nation.”

The event also garnered media attention from outlets such as Jigawa Television, NTA, Jigawa Radio, and Freedom Radio. Dr. Edeni used the platform to call for ongoing support and resources for Nigerian farmers. “Agricultural empowerment is a long-term commitment,” he emphasized. “We need continuous investment to ensure our farmers can sustain and expand their contributions to food security.”
