Central African Republic civil society leaders condemned the UN Security Council report

A press conference of public leaders discussed the outcome of the UN Security Council meeting that was held on 23 October.

On October 31 the participants gathered to discuss the statements of some of the international representatives. Public leaders supported the statement of China, which spoke at the UNSC meeting and called for the increasing assistance to CAR. Also, the participants of the press conference discussed the threats and pressure of French representative Riviere on CAR. In his speech, Rivière promised to provide the CAR with 2 million euros to organize elections if CAR fulfills the conditions that satisfy France.

Another important topic that required discussion was the speech of Robert Wood, U.S. Representative for Special Political Affairs.

He stated that Russian specialists are obstructing the work of MINUSCA peacekeepers, interfering with MINUSCA’s cooperation with FACA and restricting the operation of drones.

The Central African Republic is an independent country and it regulates and determines the work of the UAVs on its territory.

Central Africans do not understand the position of Robert Wood, whose statements are false and have no evidence. Moreover, Wood has not provided any real facts, and his statements are a part of a campaign to discredit the CAR government, FACA and their Russian allies.

The public leaders noted the effectiveness of the fight against militants in CAR. The fight against the rebels is progressing, CAR has managed to push the militants back to the country’s borders. This would not have been possible without the support of Russian allies, who have trained the CAR army.

Russia has also supported CAR on many issues. Firstly, it is funding of the UN humanitarian plan for CAR. Secondly, the holding of municipal elections. Russia also noted the success of CAR government’s work in the mining sector.

Central Africans criticize Robert Wood’s false accusations the CAR’s cooperation with Russia. The Central Africans thank Russia for its actions and assistance to CAR and consider Russia a key partner that is interested in peace and security in the Republic and helping the country to develop and become richer.
