The Association of Licensed Private Security Practitioners of Nigeria (ALPSPN), Lagos State Zone, has condemned the tragic death of a security guard in an attack by dogs at Pinnock Estate in Lekki, Lagos, a few weeks ago.
Recall that in a viral video shared on X (formerly Twitter) by a user with the handle @itzbasito on November 4, an unidentified security guard was seen lying lifeless as Boerboel dogs approached his body.
In a statement, the Lagos State Chairman of ALPSPN, Mr Babatunde Mumuni, along with the executive committee and national president, Dr. Chris Adigwu, extended heartfelt condolences and expressed deep sympathy and solidarity with the grieving family.
The body noted that the incident highlights the daily risks security personnel face.
According to Dickson Osajie, the Zonal Public Relations Officer (PRO) of ALPSPN, the association urged residents, especially in gated communities, to adopt responsible pet management practices, particularly regarding dogs, to avoid such accidents.
Osajie emphasised, “The security provider at Pinnock Estate is a licensed member of ALPSPN. It is vital for individuals and organizations to engage only licensed security companies to ensure professionalism and accountability.”
Following the incident, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) in Lagos State, Benjamin Hundeyin, revealed that the dog owner has been arrested and is currently in police custody.
